Bronzed Moments with Wanda Huber
A Short-Short Writing Workshop In this seminar, writers will develop their story-telling abilities as they imagine the ordinary moments characterized in J. Seward Johnson’s life-sized sculptures currently being displayed throughout downtown Dayton. Seward’s sculptures capture the complexities of life found in the details common to everyday experiences such as walking a dog, reading a book, or waiting on a park bench. Writers will interpret the private complexities underpinned in such moments. Physically interacting with chosen sculptures will aid in their musings as will group discussion. The workshop is designed for writers to be in control of the course’s level-of-difficulty. Collaboration is possible. Friends are welcome to work together. It is also possible for individuals to complete a short-short story appropriate for submission to the City Life Story Contest, judged each month this summer. Regardless of how each writer chooses the challenge, the process will reveal the writer’s sentiment within.
